Synopsis
“Lost and Found” is the home of a variety of lost properties that are delivered every day by its finders and are taken care of by Togashi, a middle-aged man that works there.
An umbrella, a key holder, a digital camera and a pair of shoes... a wide range of items indeed. Magic occurs when such objects that seem to have no common ground with one another are stored on shelves. They silently start to mingle and without knowing it, their owners and its finders also find themselves interacting with one another. It leads to a chain of events that eventually unravels Togashi's past and the reason of being.
'Lost and Found-- Something that is once lost but is found again.'
Director’s Statement by Nobuyuki Miyake
From as far as I can remember, I've always been fascinated about where premonitions and inspirations come from. So, in my films, I always try to portray those feeling and emotions behind them.
In this film "Lost & Found", I depicted the characters as those "lost properties" stored at a Lost & Found office in a train station. At a glance, they seem to have no connections at all. However, as the story unfolds, the characters intersect and have influence on one another. Such intersections provide each character the opportunity to find something that they've lost. What I wanted to project through this film was those invisible connections between the characters and their feelings.
